About the event
Ukraine war film 20 DAYS IN MARIUPOL won Oscar for best documentary at the 2024 Oscars. The documentary reveals how a group of journalists struggled to stay alive in besieged city of Mariupol, while coming face to face with the atrocities of the war brought on by Russian Forces. Local to Tampa Bay non-profit organization Danube International and Sarasota Film Society worked together in bringing this movie, a testimony of war crimes committed by Russian forces in Ukraine, to the screen of Burns Court movie theater. Danube International Organization, established in 2005, main focus has been helping Ukrainian refugees, who settled in our comminutes while fleeing the war, and Ukrainian women, children, elderly and disabled in Ukraine since March of 2022, the beginning of an active war on the territory of Ukraine ignited by Russia.
